with your preparation for Grade 9, and in particular the first month of school.
MISSION STATEMENT
We believe that Loyola Catholic Secondary School fosters personal academic excellence in a socially supportive
environment. We strive to instill in our students the love of God and neighbour, and the desire to acquire skills,
knowledge, attitudes and values which will allow them to become independent, responsible, productive and contributing
members of a rapidly changing multicultural society. We, the staff, promote a commitment to life-long learning, family
and social responsibility, environmental awareness, and social, cultural and gender equity.
We, the staff of Loyola Catholic Secondary School believe that our fundamental purpose, in conjunction with parents, the
Church and the community, is to assist students in their journey to lead fulfilling, productive and generous lives.
OUR SCHOOL
Loyola Catholic Secondary School is a school of approximately 1000 students, of diverse ethno cultural backgrounds,
from Grade 9 to Grade 12. Our school population generally reflects the socioeconomic mix found within Mississauga.
The school community at Loyola is committed to the search for excellence, the uniqueness of the individual and the
education of the whole person while experiencing a life in a community founded on gospel values.
The school provides a caring school and community environment that stresses tolerance and acceptance of others,
commitment to our Catholic faith and high academic standards. We provide a safe and comfortable learning environment
where models of Gospel values and Catholic doctrines, teachings and beliefs are an integral part of the daily life of our
school.
At Loyola, we are proud of our balanced religion, academic, performing arts and athletics program. We currently have 9
out of 11 Ministry Technical Programs. We also have an all purpose football/soccer field, a rubberized track, a greenhouse
and 3 gymnasiums. Our programs offer students a well-rounded and value-centered education to help them make good
choices for the future. It allows us to reflect and serve the entire community as we prepare our students for post secondary
education and careers.
Furthermore, we are proud of the achievement of our students and the commitment of our staff. Together with our parish
and our parent community we strive to live our school motto as we prepare Loyola students to be people fully alive in
the glory of God, “Gloria Dei Vita Plena.” Our theme for 2015-2016 will be Continuing to Walk the Talk –
Make a Difference.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
Our Loyola Catholic School Council functions as an advisory body to the school administration on a variety of issues
including programs, services and operation of the school. Interested parents are welcome to join our council and
participate in monthly meetings that are usually held on the third Monday of each month in the School Lecture Hall. The
last meeting of the 2013-2014 school year is scheduled for Monday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m. At that time, a new
school council will be elected for the 2014 – 2015 school year. Everyone is encouraged to participate and discuss the
many facets of school life at Loyola, including school improvement, extracurricular accomplishments and challenges.
On behalf of our School Council, our Student Council and the Staff, welcome to our Loyola Catholic Secondary School
Community. We look forward to hosting a welcome barbeque for all our incoming Gr. 9 students as part of this
