St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Secondary School Mission Statement
At St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School it is our common purpose as Catholic Christian believers that students will be given every opportunity to fulfill their
true potential spiritually, academically, athletically, and socially. It is our belief that as nurturing educators our students will model themselves in the image of

St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Secondary School is a proud member of the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and Merciful Redeemer Parish. The
school was established in 2000 to support Catholic parents in their responsibility for the spiritual, religious, moral, academic and physical needs of their
children in accordance with the teaching of the Church. The school community at Gonzaga is committed to the achievement of excellence, the recognition
of the unique characteristics of the individual and the education of the whole person while experiencing a life in a community founded on Gospel Values.
Gonzaga encourages international travel and outreach initiatives to provide students the opportunity to be Catholic citizens of the world.
At St. Aloysius Gonzaga, we are proud of our balanced religion, academic, arts, technology and athletics programs, which offer students a well-rounded and
value-centered education to help them make good choices for the future. The curriculum planned and provided in the school is broad, balanced, and relevant
to the needs and aspirations of all our students. A wide range of subjects and learning experiences are offered in order to develop the skills, abilities and

Core Principles
Catholic School Learning Plan for St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Secondary School
The Catholic School Learning Plan (CSLP) has been aligned with the Catholic Board Learning Plan to address the board’s five shared priorities: Creating
Catholic Conditions For Well-being, Learning and Leading; Building Collaborative Practices Through Inquiry; Enhancing Transitional Practices; Knowing the
Learner Through Assessment; and Responding Through Effective Instruction. With respect to the five shared priorities, schools are required to complete the
table, below, including a summary of Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) assessment performance and progress at the school.
Catholicity
St. Aloysius Gonzaga models, celebrates and nourishes gospel values in the teaching and learning of our Christ-centered programs and services through:

The school’s most recent EQAO Grade 9 mathematics assessment performance:

Grade 9 Academic Mathematics: 94% of all students are above the Board and provincial standard (level 3 and 4)
Grade 9 Applied Mathematics 71% of all students are above the Board and provincial standard (level 3 and 4)
Observations regarding school progress in Grade 9 EQAO: In Grade 9 Academic Mathematics, there was a 1% increase in the number of
students who were above the Board and provincial standard (level 3 and 4) from 2013-2014. In Grade 9 Applied Mathematics, there was a 4%
increase in the number of students who were above the Board and provincial standard (level 3 and 4) from 2013-2014.
The school’s most recent Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) performance:

OSSLT results for First-Time Eligible Students: 95% of all first time eligible students who fully participated are above the Board and provincial standard
(level 3 and 4)
OSSLT results for Previously Eligible Students: 49% of all previously eligible students who fully participated were successful.
Observations regarding school progress on the OSSLT: The number of first time eligible students that were successful in 2013-2014 remains the
same. There was a 3% increase in the number of previously eligible students who were successful in 2013-2014 and this continues to be a focus for
the school this year. Particular emphasis will be placed on implementing strategies that support individual student needs.
The school community supports and provides opportunities for life-long learning:
