Science Test
There will be a test on the
human body on Friday,
January 8th. A study guide
was sent home, but there is a
copy of it on my webpage.
What We’re Learning
Reading- Students will continue our nonfiction
reading unit. They will use text structure to organize
understanding of a text, summarize narrative
nonfiction, tackle hard words that complicate
meaning, read to learn information, and identify what
a subject learns.
Writing- Writers will begin our persuasive
writing unit. Students will write a thesis statement
and give reasons to convince an audience, see a
problem and come up with a solution, consider the
audience they are writing for, and edit as they go.
Math- This week students will use standard units
Parent Reminder:
We have library on Days 6
and 9.
to measure the area of a shape, use unit squares and
multiplication to find the areas of squares and
rectangles, use areas of squares and rectangles to
model the Distributive Property, use areas of
rectangles to find the area of irregular shapes, and
solve problems by breaking it apart.
Science- Students will learn about the respiratory
system and review for the test.
Literacy Tip: Ask your child to describe the lesson their character learns.
Math Tip: When completing area problems, have your child write square units after the number.
