Catholic School Learning Plan for Holy Family Elementary School Annual Progress Report Shared Priorities: Creating Catholic Conditions for Well-Being, Learning and Leading Outcomes: 1.0 We will provide a safe learning environment that encourages risk-taking needed for learning, where the voice of each learner is valued and heard, within a supportive community. Outcome Progress Comments 6/1/2015: We continue to work collaboratively with the OPP, parish, psychologist, speech and language pathologist, CYW, social worker and public health nurse. We have implemented the P.A. L. S program. Shared Priorities: Building Collaborative Practices Through Inquiry Outcomes: 2.0 We will cultivate a co-learning stance within an inquiry based approach to learning, which will deepen understanding for all learning. Outcome Progress Comments 6/1/2015: The Holy Family Staff developed a co-learning stance within an inquiry based approach to learning, which deepen our understanding of learning. All staff members were involved in a Collaborative Inquiry throughout the year related to their students' needs. Through examining student evidence, relevant research and monitoring student outcomes we were able to develop teaching practices that lead to student success. In addition, the use of a team-approach help deepen our understanding of all learners. We will continue to support seamless transitions between the grades as well as the transition from Grade 8 to Grade 9 for our students. We enjoy a very positive collaboration with our high school St. Michael's and our Grade 8 students had many opportunities to visit and participate in various activities related to their upcoming transition to secondary school. Outcome Progress Comments 6/1/2015: Teachers implemented assessment practices that made thinking and learning visible in order to inform their instruction and to enable all students to learn. There has been an increase in the number of teachers who were able to demonstrate their understanding of assessment for and as learning. Students have shared with their teachers and peers, strategies that support their learning. Students were actively involved in the co-creation of success criteria. Outcome Progress Comments 6/1/2015: Our professional learning focus was in the area of mathematics. It was supported through various processes such as Collaborative Inquiry, monthly Staff Professional Development sessions, co-teaching and coplanning with our SAT, and collaboration with our Math Consultant. We focused on the implementation of the 3 part lesson in mathematics and the elements of classroom environment, developing pedagogical knowledge of teaching math, computational fluency and the use of manipulatives. 10/14/2014: Our professional learning focus is in the area of mathematics.
