Assistant Director of External Affairs
Goal:
Improve SGA’s and University’s standing amongst the community by participating in beneficial projects alongside local entities
Responsibilities:
• Support the Director of External Affairs in the performance of his/her official duties, which are listed below:
• Coordinate with non-university entities on behalf of the President and organization
o Entities include UH PAC, Houston Mayor’s office, other universities’ representatives, etc.
• Manage SGA’s responsibilities for events concerning external entities
o Responsibilities include recruiting and training volunteers, securing space reservations, etc.
o Events include Day at the Capitol, voter registration drives, community service, and others
• Develop and manage projects to increase involvement with Houston community
o Projects may include adopting a local school for student volunteering, participating in philanthropic efforts, etc.
• Maintain current information on national, local, and University news and events and brief Director and President regularly
Requirements:
• Maintain 5 hours per week of office presence (shared desk provided)
• Attend University and local events as assigned by the President or Director of External Affairs
• Serve on University and SGA committees as assigned by President or Director of External Affairs
• Any other duties assigned by the President or Director of External Affairs
• Remain in good disciplinary standing
