Mrs. Provow’s Language Arts Class Syllabus Welcome to my class! I hope you have had a wonderful summer and you’re ready for an awesome school year! I am anticipating a great time as we begin the upcoming year together! Classroom Expectations o Treat others the way you would like to be treated, being honest and respectful. o Show responsibility for your actions and education. Procedures 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Be on time for class. Please wait until I am at the door to greet you before you enter. Be seated and begin the bellringer as soon as you enter the classroom. Make only positive comments. Raise your hand to answer or ask questions. Label papers with full name, class period, and date. Turn in assignments on time in the maroon turn-in trays. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom supplies and books. If finished with an assignment or activity early, please read silently until further instructions are given. 10. If absent, be sure to check with me about make-up work. It is your responsibility to get missed work or complete a missed reading. 11. Only emergency trips to the restroom will be allowed during class. Consequences: Flex time fun time: One day per week, each grade will be rewarded with a free flex period. Students who have received a demerit for the following behaviors will not be allowed this free period. • Unprepared for class • Disrespectful behavior • Disruptive behavior • Incomplete or missing assignment • Not following teacher directions • Cell Phone/other technology violation • Tardy In addition, cell phones being misused during class time will be sent to the office, with discipline at the discretion of Mrs. Arant. Also, multiple tardies will result in parent contact, extra assignments, and write-ups. For more information, please see the Carlisle County Behavior Code book. Grading Scale: 100 – 90 A 89 – 80 B 79 – 70 C 69 – 60 D Below 60 is failing. All assignments, quizzes, and tests are worth 100 points in my class. Materials Needed: 1 ½ inch, 3-ring binder with loose-leaf paper, 5 dividers, a pocket folder, and zippered pouch with pencils, pens, highlighter, and sticky notes.
