Carlisle County High School SBDM Council Extracurricular Programs Policy Extracurricular Activities shall consist of all activities conducted during school and auspices of the school both on and off campus. Examples of extracurricular programs are athletics, academic competitions, clubs, community services, etc. By the July SBDM meeting of each year, the principal shall prepare a list of extracurricular programs to be implemented in the school, for the school council’s approval. Additional extracurricular programs to be implemented shall be presented by the principal to the council for approval prior to their implementation. In order for students to participate in any extracurricular activities which are not an integral part of the instructional program and which occur outside of normal school hours, they must maintain a “C” average in all courses combined. A student may be reinstated to active participation as soon as he/she regains a “C” average. The chief extracurricular sponsor may include additional student participation standards, to be consistent with any criteria set by the state or national sponsor of the program, and consistent with state and federal statutes and regulations. It is the responsibility of the coach or sponsor to ensure that student participants maintain the required average. Adopted: April 17, 2003
