Minimum Recommendations for Summer EMBA Students
•
Intel Core 2 Duo processor minimum, 2.0GHz or higher/newer preferred (i5, i7)
•
4GB RAM minimum
•
80GB hard drive
•
Windows 7 Professional (English version only) or newer (Windows 8, 10). We do not
support any foreign language versions.
•
Microsoft Office 2010 (English Version Only) – Microsoft Office 2013/2016
recommended. Simon IT can provide Office 2013 or 2016 suite if needed, upon
arrival…)
•
10/100/1000BaseT Network connectivity.
•
Wireless Ethernet (A/B/G/N) card for use while at the Simon School. If you have a newer
laptop, you may have a built-in wireless Ethernet transmitter. If you are not sure if you
have this, please check with your IT department.
•
Apple/Mac/Linux/OS2/Solaris systems will not be supported.
•
User must have administrator privileges (If this is not possible, student will be
limited and may not be able to load any course required software).
Guidelines for Summer EMBA Student Computer Support
What the Simon School will support:
•
Basic application support for Microsoft Office 2013/2016, Windows 7, 8, 10 Professional
(English Versions only are supported).
•
Basic application support for all software required by EMBA faculty.
•
Basic network (hard-wired and wireless) connectivity support while on site.
What the Simon School will NOT support:
•
Issues with individual student laptops connecting to their own ISP’s (such as AOL or
CompuServe) or the interaction of VPN with that respective ISP (for instance, VPN does
not work with AOL).
•
Non-UofR VPN client applications.
•
Hardware replacement or servicing.
