HOCKEY THROUGH MY EYES Anthony Heppler WHAT IS HOCKEY? - Hockey is a sport that many know but few play. This is one of the few sports that is not only a sport, it is a way of life. - Hockey is best defined as two opposing teams that compete against each other in means of putting the puck in the net the most times. - Hockey first grabbed my interest around the age of 7. - Hockey is a sport that requires an unusual amount of commitment from the player. Some players, on the other hand, lose interest quickly. INTEREST LOSS - During this age group, kids begin to have other interests and veer off from the game. WHAT I SEE IN HOCKEY - Hockey is not really like any other sport. What other sport offers an option where you can fight a kid, sit in a box for 5 minutes, and go right back out and play the game you love. Hockey is a get away. It offers a place where a person can forget anything and everything that person is dealing with in their life and just focus on playing the game. The connection that players make with hockey, can potentially, last a lifetime. WHY SHOULD YOUR CHILD TRY HOCKEY? - Hockey is a worldwide sport that many people know but few attempt. It is a sport that requires much determination and maturity. - It teaches class, protection, and many other life style choices that a person will need later on in life. - Hockey also introduces you to people all around the world that you thought you would never meet. You make some life-long friendships and you are part of a brotherhood that no one can understand unless you play the sport itself.
