HOCKEY THROUGH MY EYES

WHAT IS HOCKEY?
-
Hockey is a sport that many
know but few play. This is one
of the few sports that is not
only a sport, it is a way of life.
-
Hockey is best defined as two
opposing teams that compete
against each other in means
of putting the puck in the net
the most times.
-
Hockey first grabbed my
interest around the age of 7.
-
Hockey is a sport that requires
an unusual amount of
commitment from the player.
Some players, on the other
hand, lose interest quickly.
INTEREST LOSS
- During this age group, kids begin to have other interests and
veer off from the game. This is where being committed to the
game fully comes out if kids want to continue your career.
-
This is a graph that
was put together to
exemplify the loss of
interest in hockey
as of 2011.
-
Most of the kids
who lost interest
had some other
reason why they lost
interest in hockey.
-
Between the ages of
9 and 15 is when
kids make decisions
on if they like the
sport or not.
HISTORY OF THE GAME
HISTORY
- Hockey was evolved from
field hockey style games in
Europe.
- It was developed in
Canada by British soldiers
and immigrants.
- Field Hockey adapted to
be played in icy Canadian
conditions when it was to
cold outside.

WHAT I SEE IN HOCKEY
- Hockey is not really like any other sport. What
other sport offers an option where you can fight a
kid, sit in a box for 5 minutes, and go right back
out and play the game you love. Hockey is a get
away. It offers a place where a person can forget
anything and everything that person is dealing
with in their life and just focus on playing the
game. The connection that players make with
hockey, can potentially, last a lifetime.
WHY SHOULD YOUR CHILD TRY HOCKEY?
-
Hockey is a worldwide sport that many people
know but few attempt. It is a sport that requires
much determination and maturity.
-
It teaches class, protection, and many other life
style choices that a person will need later on in
life.
-
Hockey also introduces you to people all around
the world that you thought you would never meet.
You make some life-long friendships and you are
part of a brotherhood that no one can understand
unless you play the sport itself.
