• Questions to think about?
– How do these slogans effect the decisions we make?
– What was being advertised in the jingles/slogans
– Who were the jingles/slogans targeting? Why?
– Which slogans did you not know?

Unit 7 – Introduction
Objectives
• Content Objective: Students will be able to analyze the
information presented in a various videos in order to create
a proposal on what America(ns) can do to reduce the obesity
epidemic occurring in our society while answering questions
on a worksheet.
• Language Objective: The students will use the skills of
listening and taking notes on critical information while
watching videos in order to provide evidence that supports
their answers to key idea, structure and integration of
knowledge questions on a worksheet.

• DO NOT WRITE YOUR NAME ON YOUR
PAPER YET
• Read through the questions you will need to
answer before watching the videos
• You will watch 3 different videos. Take notes
on things that you hear which you think will
help you answer the questions on your
worksheet
– You may take a lined piece of paper from the table
up front to take your notes on.
After Watching the Videos…
• Select ONE other person in
the class to work with on
completing the questions
worksheet.
– You only need to turn in one
paper between you and your
partner
– Make sure you write both your
name and your partners name
on the paper before you turn it
in
– When your paper is complete,
place it in the black bin.
Directions for Question 5 on Back
• Question 5 is located on the
back of your paper and needs
to be answered using 4
paragraphs. Each paragraph
must contain 3-5 sentences.
– You need an introductory
paragraph, 2 supporting
paragraphs and a conclusion
paragraph.
– In each supporting paragraph
(2) you need at least one piece
of evidence from the videos that
supports your proposal.
-Make sure to include what you
are proposing America(ns) do,
how it may potentially benefit
and harm the American society.
