WORKS CITED PAGE Checklist
__________Have you placed your Works Cited page on a separate page at the end of your
research paper?
___________Does it have the same one-inch margins and last name, page number header as the
rest of your paper.
___________Does the page number fall consecutively after the last page of your conclusion?
___________Have you centered the words Works Cited at the top of the page? ( Do not italicize
the words Works Cited or put them in quotation marks or underline them.)
___________Have you double spaced the whole page once, no more, no less?
___________Have you continued typing on the line until you have run out of room. (You should
not hit enter after sections of the citation. This looks misleading on the samples from the library.)
___________Have you included the type of source (Web. Print. Article from a Database. DVD.)?
___________Have you ordered your citations in alphabetical order, according to the first piece of
information you are provided?
___________Have you refrained from using n/a when a piece of information is unavailable?
___________Have you remembered that you should use a shortened form of any URLs, breaking after
the domain ending?
___________Have you indented the second and any subsequent lines of citations five
spaces so that you have created a hanging indent?
___________Have you capitalized each word in the titles of articles, books, etc, excluding articles
(the, an), short prepositions, or conjunctions unless one is the first word of the title or subtitle:
Gone with the Wind, The Art of War, There Is Nothing Left to Lose?
___________Have you remembered that titles of books, encyclopedia, website, online databases,
magazines, newspapers get italicized, but not underlined or placed in quotation marks?
___________Have you remembered that titles of articles, poems, short stories, etc, get placed
inside quotation marks?
___________Have you separated author, title, and publication information with a period?
___________Have you formatted all of the dates like this…27 January 2010?
