Job Title Construction Project Estimator Job Summary: Job Duties: Water and Wastewater Facilities; Planning; Estimating; Scheduling; Construction Management; Administration of Contracts & Purchase Orders; Coordinate and supervise projects. Evaluate bid specifications and drawings and complete project take-offs. Work closely with engineers to ensure that all facets of the projects are understood to ensure accurate data. Ensure that jobs are finished properly and in a timely manner. Maintain the estimated budget for each project. REQUIREMENTS: Acquire in depth understanding of the project/program at hand and the relative requirements •Determine the variables that will be used to produce valid cost and other estimates •Visit sites, warehouses and other venues to gather essential information by measuring, negotiating for prices etc. •Conduct research by reviewing documents, consulting with experts etc. to obtain all necessary data on labor costs, materials, production times etc. •Analyze data and produce forecasts of costs and timelines with the help of software •Perform risk analysis •Prepare detailed reports with estimates and budgets for submission to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions etc.) by bid deadline. •Review offers and quotes by subcontractors according to requirements to determine the most beneficial alternative •Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.) ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS •Proven experience as estimator or similar position •Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities •Thoroughness and reliability •Excellent organizational skills •Familiarity with financial and project management principles •In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas •Excellent math and IT ability with an analytical mindset 'Solid working knowledge of current IT technologies, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. •Excellent knowledge of estimating software (e.g. HCSS Heavy Bid) •BS/BA in engineering, construction science or relevant field preferred •Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification will be a plus 'Abide by the location's Safety policy endorsed by the local management, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its Safety Policy and Procedures Program, work toward achieving established objectives and targets. 'Capable of providing any other additional support as requested by supervisor. EXPERIENCE: '1-2 Years’ experience in a construction industry setting preferred. 'Excellent negotiation and analytical skills essential. 'Demonstrated experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented environment. 'Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. 'Demonstrated project management and cost savings experience.
