Curley’s Wife Crooks She comes into the barn because she is lonely. She is rejected by the three misfits, and that’s when she starts to be mean to those people to feel more powerful. She thinks the only way to befriend someone is through her attractiveness. She has low selfconfidence if she can only rely on her looks. He takes advantage of Lenny’s naivety/innocence because he wants to feel more powerful than somebody else. (power) Excludes others because he is usually the one excluded. (power) Takes back the offer to work at the ranch because Curley’s wife reminds him of his lack of power. (power) Feels hope about the opportunity to work at the ranch. Wants to return to a happy part of his life. As an adult realizes his father was right about white people. (power) Opportunity to give/get companionship. Pretends not to like the company but he really does. (power)
