Dr. M. S. Ramaiah, FIAE
(1922-1997)
Founder Chairman, Gokula Education Foundation
Tribute to a visionary
We offer our humble tributes to our venerable founder Chairman late
Dr. M.S. Ramaiah, renowned philanthropist, educationist, and
visionary who started M.S.Raamaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) in
1962, envisioning the need for quality professional education towards
taking India ahead.
As we celebrate our Golden Jubilee year in 2012, MSRIT stands tall,
recognized as one of India’s leading names in quality engineering
education.
Going forward, we continue to be guided by Dr. M.S. Ramaiah’s
enduring philosophy and reiterate our commitment to creating world
class technical professionals who strongly reflect the universal human
values of integrity, honesty, and character as they go on to contribute
to the nation and the world at large.

M.S. RAMAIAH INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (MSRIT) is one of India's best-known names in engineering
education. Founded in 1962 by renowned industrialist, philanthropist, and visionary the Late Dr. M. S.
Ramaiah, MSRIT is part of the Gokula Education Foundation(GEF), a trust that manages 17 other
educational institutions offering courses that include Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Hotel
Management, Business Management, Law and Pure Sciences.
MSRIT along with the other group institutions is located on a sprawling campus spread across 85 acres in
the heart of Bangalore city. The campus is 7 kms from the City Railway Station/ Central Bus Stand and 25
kms from Bangalore International Airport offering students and visitors close proximity to essential
amenities and services. MSRIT has received the prestigious Autonomous Status in 2007.

event graced by His Excellency Prof.
A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Former President of
India. Speaking on the occasion, Prof.
Kalam succinctly summed up MSRIT’s
seminal contribution to engineering
education and the nation as follows...
“During the last 50 years, MSRIT would have generated more than 38,000 engineers and
technologists who are deployed in various fields in India and abroad...”

 This is highly involved activity and the entire
faculty are involved in this process.
 All the departments were given mandate to
arrange atleast two guest lectures in a
semester and two industry visits in an
academic year. Most of the departments have

regularly monitor the conduction of theory
and practical classes. This committee was also
made responsible for student discipline in the
departments like usage of mobile phones and
dress code etc. This exercise will also be
repeated during next academic year to ensure
discipline amongst students.
 Proctorial system has been strengthened.
Three meetings have been conducted in each
semester with proctors and all issues
pertaining to students were discussed in detail
and all measures have been taken to address
these issues. SIS (Student information system)
has been put back to action with all data
being fed in time for reference to parents and
other stakeholders. Reports on student
performance and attendance have been
generated and sent to respective parents for
reference and necessary action.
SMS alert system is also put in place where
parents receive reports on their ward's
performance in internal sessional exams and
also the attendance. Parents also permitted to
access this information on web by using the id
and password being given by the institution.
Parents have expressed their satisfaction on all
these features. There is a need to strengthen
this system further, which is already in
process.
