Job Summary:
This high visibility position is responsible for managing and executing the financial and operational plans for a strategic market area
(SMA) in the Beaumont and surrounding area in Texas. Working side by side with the managerial team, the GM develops
appropriate strategies to support the regional company goals. This leadership position is responsible for directing and coordinating
activities for Ready Mix and Aggregate operations in Southeast Texas to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations
while maximizing profits. The General Manager delivers the message from the top down for passion and pride in the Knife River
Brand.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 4 yr. college degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• 10+ years in progressively more responsible construction/materials management positions.
• Strong leadership traits and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead employees at all levels in a high touch, hands-on
environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills using accounting, estimating, or other materials related software, including Microsoft
Office Suite, specifically Excel. Command Alkon experience a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of vertically integrated construction materials operations.
• Excellent negotiation, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Extensive knowledge of Ready Mix Concrete operations and related industries, i.e.,
materials manufacturing and Aggregate materials.
• Experience with rail receiving yards and barge facilities a plus.
Duties and/or Responsibilities
•Inspire, develop, train and motivate the sales and operational team members to deliver a high level of customer service in the
markets we serve.
• Interact frequently with customers, clients and stakeholders in order to foster relationships and create a network that will make
Knife River the supplier of choice in the SMA.
• Aggressively engage in tracking upcoming projects and material supply opportunities to ensure Knife River captures every available
opportunity to deliver its products and services.
• Direct and coordinate activities of Ready Mix and Aggregate operations to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations in
order to maximize profits.
• Estimate total product costs as determined by ever-changing costs for constituent components, labor and delivery. Develop pricing
strategies as appropriate that will maximize profits without sacrificing market share.
• Work closely with sales team to determine and track Ready Mix and Aggregate backlog. Then determine sales, marketing and
bidding strategies necessary to procure the maximum volume of work that can be performed with available resources, without
exceeding the capacity to service our customers.
•Enthusiastically promote products or services to develop new markets, increase share of market and obtain competitive position in
industry.
• Develop strategic plan for all product lines and value-added products.
• Review and monitor timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure plant and rolling stock equipment are maintained to high standards in order to maximize production, safety and
environmental stewardship.
• Plan and budget for capital improvement and repair projects in order to repair, maintain and upgrade rolling stock and plant
equipment.
• Plan and develop organizational goals, and implement goals with the help of the SMA management team.
• Deliver financial and other operational goals to the VP of Operations in a timely and accurate manner.

Duties and/or Responsibilities
• Support and champion world class safety culture.
• Advise senior leadership on ways to meet and improve safety goals.
• Take an active role in the recruiting, management of, and accountability for professional and support staff at the SMA level.
• Provide insight and explanation for methods, practices, or procedures where needed.
• Participate with peers and counterpart on general management meetings and activities as appropriate.
• Work with Senior Regional Management team to develop the company’s SMA plan.
• Perform other duties or special financial projects as assigned by the VP of Operations.
• Oversee and monitor environmental compliance for the Southeast region.
