GoalsorAnticipatedOutcomes:BenefitonTargetPopulation? TheFarmtoSchoolprogramwouldincludeamovetowardsamoreholistic approachinproviding,educatingandreinforcingthenutritionalvalueoffreshfoods notonlytoNPSDstudentsbuttotheexpandingneedinourlocalcommunity.Fresh foodswouldbeavailabletoourstudentsduringtheschooldaybutwouldalsobe availabletoourdistrictfamiliesviaschool/communitygardens/producestandsand partnerchannels.Asecondarygoalofthisinitiativewouldbetoemphasizenotonly thenutritionalbenefitbutalsotheimpactthatpurchasingandconsuminglocally sourced,freshfoodhasontheenvironment,localeconomyandeventhechoices thatourstudentsmakeinchoosingacareerorcourseofstudyincollege.Withthe ever‐changingFederalGuidelinesforSchoolNutritionandtheemphasisonHealth andWellnessProgramsforPublicSchools,havingstudents/familiesinvolvedinthe processmayalsoincreasewaningparticipationinschoolmealpurchases.
