SCHOOL BOARD OFFICE AGENDA 1.0 CALL TO ORDER 2.0 ADOPTION OF AGENDA 3.0 PRESENTATIONS BY SCHOOLS AND/OR STUDENTS 3.1 Summer Professional Development Esther Skrypiczajko, Chair, Professional Development Committee, and Janice Reiswig, a member of the committee, will speak to the Board regarding the summer professional development days. 3.2 Summer School 2003 Summer school teacher Sandy Hodson will highlight “Kids in the Kitchen”, a new program offered at the 2003 Summer School and Linda King and Ann Delorme will discuss the success of the “Remedial Reading – Primary” program offered during summer school and how it relates to the district’s goal of literacy. Katie Hicks, Principal, 2003 Summer School Program, will present her summer school report to the Board. 3.3 The Black Box (August 2003): How can we improve the achievement of all students? “The Black Box” is an eight-minute video designed to engage parents and staff in a discussion about the school’s and/or district’s efforts to improve achievement for all students. The video was produced by Russ Stasiuk (Penticton Secondary School media teacher) and is available in all SD67 schools. It will be shown to all school staffs and parents in the fall. “The Black Box” (August 2003) is the first of a series. A minor wording change has been made for clarification and the policy is now recommended for adoption. (Attachment) 9.2 Financial Statements The secretary-treasurer will review the preparation of the financial statements and district audit. 9.3 Summer Maintenance Projects The director of maintenance will review a listing of summer maintenance and renovation projects. (Attachment) 9.4 Planning and Goal Setting Session Arrangements are being made for a planning and goal setting session to be held on September 24, 2003, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Penticton Lakeside Resort.
