Karan 24TH AUGUST 2015 EDC ORIENTATION 2015 53 ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL A fresh start for EDC MSRIT in a new session as the general proceedings were kick-started with high aspirations, new faces, some remarkable words and a lot of enthusiasm in the air. The orientation programme was conducted in the years in an attempt to give them a glimpse of what EDC is and what they can expect out of it. To start with, the audience was shown a video which was a compilation of some of the best moments from all the major events that EDC had been a part of in the past. This was followed by a welcome note from Mr Lingaraju sir, the faculty co-ordinator of EDC, MSRIT who delivered an inspiring speech stating the ideals, objectives and principles of the club. He mentioned that EDC would always be available for anyone and everyone interested in entrepreneurship, while also highlighting the achievements of the club in the past one year. Further, Harish & Megha, members of the core committee of EDC took over and they interacted with the audience, telling them what the club has got to offer for them. The students were asked what brought them to the orientation. A number of people came up with vivid answers and each one of them had its fair share of uniqueness and inspiration. Then we had Vignesh and company, owners of their very own start-up (which deals with providing contracts to budding artists in the city for performances in events) and notable alumni of MSRIT to share their experiences. Firstly, they lifted the whole energy level of the hall with 54 ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL an interesting activity which also involved the audience. Further, each one of them spoke about their journey from being normal college going students to becoming entrepreneurs. Their words were very much inspiring for all the young aspirants present in the audience. They were given a huge round of applause as they concluded. Towards the end, the entire core committee of EDC, MSRIT was introduced to the audience along with other people who had made remarkable contributions in the past one year. Finally, The programme, overall, was an eye-opener for the fresh faces that joined MSRIT this year and allowed EDC to represent itself like never before, being more ambitious, delivering more and subsequently expecting the same. The registration for new-comers was completed using the registration forms provided to the audience at the beginning of the programme. And hence, a new chapter began for EDC, MSRIT with new hopes and aspirations. CELEB TALKS 3RD SEPTEMBER 2015 actor, and Radio jockey. He was a child artiste the talk was “To make in India or make India?”. He spoke about some of his most memorable events and moments which included acting, battle with weight loss and coming out of depression and many more. He motivated students to follow their dreams and never be pulled down by negative thoughts and feelings. He also sang few meaningful Kannada poems which gave the audience a very refreshing break. The speaker gave instances from his life where he bounced back after weight loss and went back to acting and jockeying at a popular radio station in Bangalore. He also interacted with the audience by asking about their experiences in life when they felt helpless and motivated them to always aim higher. He also told that as a nation if we want to 55 develop or reach new heights, we as citizens need to make ourselves better humans and then try to make better nation. ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL E-TALKIES: A TALK BY ACTOR VINAYAKA JOSHI It is always good to have an insight about what the person on the other side of the table seeks from you. The case is not very different with entrepreneurs , they won’t miss a chance to get an investors perspective to funding a start up. Mr. PG Ponnapa as our guest speaker . Mr. Ponnapa is a distinguished name in the startup circle and has a career spanning more than 30 years and has held top positions in a number of highly reputed companies like Asian Paints and AOL. He is presently working as a mentor for start-ups which plan to make it big in this highly competitive, yet opportunistic world. It was a two hour session by him, in which he discussed about the various aspects that an investor looks at before investing in a company . He also gave an insight about the various small issues one needs to take care of ,before and the need of the product in the market were certain other key points which were discussed by him . Later on ,the session became highly interactive and the students asked him about their doubts pertaining to start-ups and the start up culture in India. The questions kept pouring from various sectors ranging from hardware startups to the factors which play role in students getting funding for their startups . All the questions were answered by the speaker with ease but at the same time very convincingly . STARTUPS MENTORED BY EDC Yantrak Solutions (Finalists of PAHAL 2014) is one of the College Startups that was incubated under the Entrepreneurship Development Cell. Yantrak is a technology start-up technical needs of individuals, companies and other uprising startups in at Yantrak believe in innovative ideas and products that have the potential to change the industries and ultimately the lives of people. It is incubated at M.S.Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore under Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC). At Yantrak there are personnel from Mechanical, electronics and computer science engineering, who share the same vision. They believe in interdisciplinary approach to the problem in hand and everybody at Yantrak shares the same vision of building products that are smart, durable and productive. It all began in 2011, when a bunch of theatre enthusiasts from Ramaiah college were asked to put up a performance for the Bangalore Mirror Amateur Theartre Festival. When they showcased their act, 86, based on the Sri lankan civil war, they left their judge in tears. It was on that day, TEA Arts, a creative arts society was formed. From enacting scripts that were close to their heart to mentoring nearly 150 artists who have gone on to break ground in the arenas of performing and digital arts gave them immense motivation. TEA Arts pioneered The Bangalore Theatre League the same year and has gone on to host two consecutive leagues thereafter. Simultaneously, TEA Arts, has been chosen to host performance campaigns for The Times of India, Bangalore Mirror, Fortis Hospitals, The Wedding Filmer, Dream-ADream and CRY among a spectrum of other With this expansive and interesting experience in their portfolio, they now CREATHIVES TEA Arts, through its CreatHives initiative, has chalked out a balanced plan to dissolve the imbalance between the market requirement and what the artists have to offer by curating a viable meeting ground.ey believe that networking with a focused and well-researched approach, will help artists and connoisseurs to connect meaningfully. CreatHives is a web and mobile application to enable this networking between artists and vendors, with the help of a few clicks. In effect, It is an online curatorial tool, which opens doors to opportunities for artists, they do not know exist. CARDCART A team of 4 college students of M.S.R.I.T all set to spell magic with their cards. Bringing in the experience of printing cards easily. We are a group of students from Information science and Engineering,MSRIT. India is known for celebrating festivals,they celebrate it and share their happiness by inviting through cards to their lovedones. So, we are upto developing an e-commerce site through which people can order cards (weddings,house-warmings ,buissness cards and so on)at any time online. Our mission is two-fold: 1.To make the experience of printing cards easier and reliable to the customers. 2.To give a platform to local As now, one of feilds which is is printing. People struggle a lot while searching for a design of their choice to be printed in a limited time. We aim to eliminate these problems, both of the customers and the local printingpresses by providing more orders . It feels amazing to work with so many like minded people and the atmosphere here is totally spectacular. Moreover the Leadership skills that one learns being part of the EDC is the best things that anyone can learn. EDC has given me a different perspective to life. The journey of being an Entrepreneur in itself is thrilling. And EDC gives us the oppurtunity to experience that. (2015-16) EDC is a place where even if your dreams are vague, it comes true. Leading hundreds would be a dream for all but never knew my dream would come true in such short time.I never knew my true potential until i joined EDC. Being an introvert and transforming to a complete extrovert isn’t that easy but EDC helped me.Happiness is when you see that your ideas get implemented and its a success. So EDC is all about happiness. (2015-16) EDC for me can be described as something which has brought about a changein the way I look at things. It has given me insights and knowledge on a number of things which I may have never learnt if not for EDC. In short, EDC has been a journey which I feel, will make me a tad bit different and a lot more inspired than those who haven’t been there to learn about the magic called Entrepreneurship. (2015-16) EDC has been an amazing journey in my life. It has brought about a change in the way I think and perceive things around me. It has taught me the sense of responisibility and moreover the art of Risk Taking. The sense of accomplishment when you see your ideas getting implemented and getting an oppurtunity to become a mentor to your peers is an amusement in itself.
