The music department is having difficulty in arranging
a time for rehearsals which will be suitable to all the
men, but the administration may be able to readjust the
schedule if the demand of students for a chorus is great
enough. Mr. Mann is to- be congratulated on his attempt to reorganize the chorus after its three years'
vacation.

The piano in the Lounge of Richardson hall is performing nobly with its loosened strings and wobbly hammers. What it lacks in tone, it is making up in noise.
Jensen's "Murmuring Zephyr" sounds like the clash of
tin pans, and Tschaikowsky's "Chant Sans Paroles" does
not need any words. When students play the piano, there
seem to be more than kittens on the keys.

much better than formerly."
Considerable trouble has been experienced, according to Dr. Candlyn, due to the conflict between
practice sessions and the education
2 class which is attended by seniors. "Monday and Wednesday are
the only days of the week that I
have time to give rehearsals to the
musical unit," he said. "Much will
be accomplished, however, by this
survey of the male voices for a
chorus for next year." Dr. Candlyn hopes to have- two periods a
week definitely assigned on the
calendar to the men's chorus, with
a possibility of credit given for the
work by the college.
Several more candidates will lake
the voice test before the work is
concluded for the year, according
to Dr. Candlyn.
Those who have already had

night resulted in disappointment
and bruises for the freshmen as
their rivals made a successful getaway with the coveted banner.
The large yellow banner was
used as a decoration and was hung
in the Page hall gymnasium where
it was the object of vigilant observation by both freshmen and sophomores. As the time for the last
dance drew near, the sophomore
women, headed by Virginia Hawkins and Asenath Van Burcn, prepared to make their exit.
These
preparations aroused the interest
of the watchful freshmen who descended into the back of the gymnasium to better observe the preparations.
The. aid of two suit
cases, the Delta O m e g a banner,
and a large cardboard box was enlisted in order to deceive the yearlings.
At the appointed time three baiuL
of sophomores burst from the College each hearing a suspicious looking burden.
T h e freshmen gave
chase but were bewildered as to
which one they ought lo concentrate their attention upon. As Miss
Van Buren and her party left the
building they were attacked by a
number of freshmen women and a
regular melee ensued.

who felt it beneath their investigation and dismissed search of it
with the remark that it wasn't there
anyway.
Those bearing the banner entered a car and started away but
were noticed by the freshmen who
immediately gave chase. The race
continued for about fifteen minutes and ended when the car bearing the banner doubled on the
freshmen who lost its track.
After the banner was safely
housed, the members of the class
who had been instrumental in getting it away celebrated in a restaurant on Central avenue.
