We Keep the College Going
EPCC Physical Plant
A Special Edition
to Honor our Friend and
Coworker
Gerald (Jay) Bryant
We are publishing a second
Special Edition within a month to
acknowledge the loss of our friend
and co-worker Gerald Bryant.
We got to know Jay over the
eighteen years he was a part of
Physical Plant and we were very
shocked by his passing so quickly
after he had just left to enjoy a
few days of vacation.
There will be a celebration of
Jay’s life with his family and friends
on Saturday, April 18th at the
Destiny Family Christian Center
located at 9615 Dyer Street.
It will be a great way to accept
that Jay will now be a part of our
everyday lives in a new way.

EPCC PHYSICAL PLANT

Our Friend and Coworker, Jay Bryant
Jay Bryant, HVAC Technician, passed away on Friday evening, April 3, 2015, after
suffering an injury which became complicated. Jay had been with the Physical Plant for
18 years and had worked as Journeyman Painter, Sr. Painter, Campus Technician, and
HVAC Technician.
He recently earned an Associate in Science & Technology degree at EPCC, and
had planned to continue his education. His work experience before joining the
Physical Plant included working as a property manager and construction work. He
was especially proud of having worked building condos in Atlanta, Georgia in
preparation for the 1996 Summer Olympics.
We were continuously reminded of Jay’s love and pride of his family when he posted
game schedules and newspaper clippings of his daughter’s games on the bulletin board
for all of us to follow.
Jay’s Physical Plant coworkers are only some of the friends which he had made during his
time at EPCC. He worked at a few of the district campuses and was recognized by the
staff at all campuses.
Physical Plant Director Rick Lobato added, “Jay was a very dedicated employee who
loved both his job and the people he worked with. He always had a kind word for all.
Jay, we will all miss your smile and the sweet sound of your laughter.”
Jay provided this picture for the June 2014 issue of this newsletter when he received
his degree. Pictured from left are his daughter Alysse, his wife Cathy, Jay, and daughter
Jae-Lynne. His son Jordan was not present when the picture was taken.
