POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: SharePoint Architect SharePoint Architect Exempt CATEGORY: Professional Support GRADE: L (TS) JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and maintaining Enterprise SharePoint environments which include Enterprise portal serving internal associate and external clients. This position leads SharePoint infrastructure projects and people, proposing and implementing strategy and controls to maximize availability and minimize costs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 20% 1. Manage and design site collections, implement web part pages and site features, security policies, user account management, provisioning new sites, and problem resolution. 2. Develop, implement, and maintain documentation and plans for a highly available and recoverable collaboration environment through built-in SharePoint backup/recovery technologies, SQL Server 2008 backup/ recovery/maintenance tools, or vendor third-party tools. Plan and implement Disaster Recovery strategies and participate in annual Disaster Recovery testing. 20% 3. Meet with departments to provide solutions and assist in the architect development to meet their business and end-user needs. 20% 4. Provide direction for developers to help integrate applications and solutions into the SharePoint environment including deploying custom applications and site definitions as well as maintaining and supporting SharePoint integration with ADFS. 15% 5. Provide end-user support by utilizing interpersonal skills to communicate with and instruct end-users on SharePoint products and technologies. This includes on-call rotation for business critical SharePoint applications. 10% 6. Lead a SharePoint User Group (team of site owners) whose purpose is to promote appropriate usage of SharePoint throughout EPCC. 5% 7. Participate in planning and advocate the extension of SharePoint throughout the District. 5% 8. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field. EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years related experience, with at least two (2) years architecting and deploying SharePoint applications. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Microsoft SharePoint Certification desirable. Extensive experience of SharePoint MOSS (most current version and one prior). Must be familiar with administrative support tools such as: SSRS, SSAS, Business Connection, Performance Point and ProClarity. Basic knowledge of C++ , C# , Visual Basic, XML, XML Schema, Microsoft SQL Server, IIS and Web Services. Should possess knowledge in recent releases of Windows Server, Load Balancing, and DNS as it relates to the installation and maintenance of SharePoint. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of computer systems, hardware, software operations and principles. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, imaging equipment, scanners, printers and a variety of equipment associated with a general office and client server environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software in addition to Microsoft server operating systems, desktop operating systems, Microsoft SharePoint and SQL Server, third-party tools for SharePoint administration and management.
