POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Fleet Maintenance Coordinator Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified Staff F (Skilled Trades) JOB SUMMARY: Maintenance and/or repairs college vehicles and grounds equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Repair college-owned and leased motor vehicles; coordinate repairs performed by outside vendors; plan and schedule preventive maintenance. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 60% 2. Prepare and process requests for materials and parts; purchase parts for on-and off-road vehicles. 15% 3. Develop and maintain maintenance/repair logs for vehicles and grounds equipment; compile information and prepare reports; provide input on budget and monitor approved budget allocation. 10% 4. Perform and/or coordinate repair and maintenance of grounds equipment; plan and schedule preventive maintenance; coordinate repair performed by outside vendor. 10% 5. Provide general work direction and training for less experienced employees; may provide personnel management direction and guidance. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Building and Grounds Manager SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide work direction to assigned staff. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Completion of high school or equivalent and completion of trade school or specialized training. EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years experience. Skills/Abilities: Good organizational skills, ability to troubleshoot, define problem and resolve, and attention to details. 2. Equipment Used: SNAP-ON tools, scanner, multi-meter, fuel injector cleaning machine and variety of mechanic tools. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation software associated to the operation and maintenance of an automotive shop. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties performed causes fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. Duties require continuous effort in working with moderate to heavy (10 to 50lbs and, on occasion, over 50 lbs) materials producing moderate body fatigue. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed with minor exposure to various disagreeable elements. Work may involve exposure to dust, fumes, and/or smoke, some soiling of hands and clothes, or lack of uniformity in heating and cooling.
