POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Instructional Testing Coordinator Non-Exempt CATEGORY: Classified GRADE: F JOB SUMMARY: Coordinate the day to day operation and work activities of the Instructor Services component of Testing Services. YEARLY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: PERCENT OF TIME 25% 1. Coordinate the day to day operations and activities of the Instructor Services component of Testing Services. Coordinate and publicize district wide schedules; coordinate special testing projects at off campus locations and special accommodations; implement and monitor on line testing; provide technical advice and information support for all other testing personnel at outlying campus testing centers to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and faculty directives and standardization of services district wide. 2. Administer a variety of testing instruments for all faculty in support of all credit and television courses offered at EPCC, institutional Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Pre THEA, institutional challenge exams, CLEP/DANTES credit by exam programs, Spanish placement; placement assessment for English as a Second Language (ESL) non-credit programs, a variety of tests from other colleges/correspondence programs, and a variety of national and state certification tests; ensure test instrument security and standardized administration according to strict guidelines. 3. Provide on going direction and work assignments to assigned testing staff; provide performance feed back and conducts performance appraisals for assigned staff; coordinate staff work schedules and verifies work hours of assigned staff for director’s signature; provide staff training on new testing instruments and computerized testing; provide to the Director and Assistant Director performance input on outlying campus test center supervisors’ compliance with departmental procedures in the Instructor Services areas; evaluate, implement new assessment policies/procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and test publisher mandates. 4. Process/score completed tests; prepare, input and retrieve student test data to the institutional student information system; maintain department files and temporary student testing files; compile testing statistical data for departmental reports; research new test instruments for appropriate use within the district. Answer telephones; schedule appointments; provide informational materials and answer questions; operate a variety of office, test scanning and computer equipment; use current computer software; assess material needs; order, receive, maintain test instruments and supplies inventories. 10% 6. Consult with Deans, discipline coordinators and other college staff on instructor testing issues; provide information briefings/orientation to groups; participate in various institutional committee and special projects as assigned; recommend changes to testing policies and procedures to the Director. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Assistant Director of Testing Services SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides work direction to assigned staff. BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES: None ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years experience. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Must be eligible for certification as an Alternate Chief Examiner to assist with GED test administration as needed. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions, strong interpersonal skills, ability to provide leadership and supervise a work team. Excellent computer skills. 2. Equipment Used: Personal computer, scanner, typewriter, copy machine, fax machine and paper shredder. 3. Software Used: WordPerfect, Access, Excel, Reflections, Quattro Pro, Presentation, Internet skills, Power point, Group wise, DOS, Computerized testing software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties. Duties require sitting for long period of times. Duties require repetitive motion of fingers and arms. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
