POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Campus Life Assistant Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified B JOB SUMMARY: Assist Campus Life staff with overall operations of student programming which include developing work for promotional activities such as activity calendar, student organization logos and college functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 30% 1. Issue identification cards for staff, students and faculty at all campuses. 2. Assist in the design and development of semester activity calendar, banners, flyers, posters, etc. 30% 3. Help promote student life activities within the college and the community by advertising and disseminating information for student club activities. 10% 4. Coordinate student functions (bands, comedians, fashion shows, contest and Talent shows) in addition to sound, video and electrical systems for campus student program activities. 10% 5. Assist in the coordination and scheduling of campus movie series and facilities’ use space for student programming. 5% 6. Coordinate with community businesses and agencies to acquire needed commercial art supplies and equipment to support college and community promotional requests. 5% 7. Communicate and negotiate contracts with entertainment agents for providing student programming. 5% 8. Serve as receptionist, answer telephones, route calls to appropriate personnel and take messages. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Assistant Director, Campus Life ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: One year of college or equivalent. Skills/Abilities: Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; good communication skills (both oral and written), ability to organize and facilitate multiple projects simultaneously; detailed oriented; and ability to maintain consistencies in actions and practice. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in order to communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, and other members of the organization to request or transmit information, ask questions, get clarification, and exercise tact. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
