POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Dean Dean , Advanced Technology Center Exempt CATEGORY: Administrative GRADE: E JOB SUMMARY: Plan, direct, develop, implement and evaluate credit and non-credit programs and services as well as administer existing programs and evaluate all facets of the Advance Technology Center (ATC). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 1. Plan, develop, implement, manage and evaluate Credit Programs and Continuing Education training and service offerings to the community in the technical assistance area. Assign program areas to meet industrial training needs; provide direction to faculty, staff and students; mediate faculty, staff or student conflicts. Manage and evaluate the ATC programs and services. 2. Develop, recommend and implement short and long range strategic operational and instructional plans and related policies/procedures; ensure compliance with sponsoring agencies, federal and state standards; assess continuing technology needs; ensure implantation of approved programs and maintain accreditation standards for each program and implement approved programs and recommend modifications or changes to the ATC programs. 20% 3. Develop and manage class schedules (credit and non-credit) and activities; hire faculty, assign classrooms, review and order textbooks, order instructional supplies and equipment. Promote and market industrial technical programs and course offerings. 15% 4. Develop budget recommendations; manage approved budget; monitor equipment/inventories for all ATC programs. Oversee the maintenance of ATC buildings (A and B). 10% 5. Establish and maintain relationships with industrial, governmental and community economic development agencies educational institutions; local, state and federal agencies; participate in professional and community activities at the local, state and national levels; develop and initiate strategies to maintain state of the art training equipment via loans, donations partnerships or grants. Identifies and writes grants for new advanced technical education programs and industry training opportunities as well as for equipment and equipment upgrades for the different technical programs at the ATC. 10% 6. Responsible for personnel management activities for assigned departments. Maintain records and statistics to comply with state licensing and/or certification requirements. 5% 8. BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES: Departmental budget. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Engineering for a related occupation or in a related field. EXPERIENCE: Nine (9) years directly related experience with at least three (3) years of recent industrial experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of community college administration, fiscal management, community development techniques and group process skills. Ability to understand technical programs; Strong leadership skills; Ability to analyze a broad range of complex problems with considerable reasoning and judgment in the planning, coordination and implementation of work-related issues; Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with a general office environment (copier, phone, fax, etc.) 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
