Living alone may help maintain independence; however, there may be times when assistance is needed. Operation Reassurance, a free service of Abington Health, provides participants age 60 and older with the assurance that every day (seven days a week, including holidays) they can speak with a trained staff member to make sure that they are safe and sound. The goal is to enable seniors to live independently and feel confident and secure. Please provide the following information: • Your name, address and telephone number • Medical conditions, if applicable • Names and phone numbers of two people who can be contacted if we do not receive your daily call and cannot get in touch with you • Your local police department phone number to contact in case of an emergency How it Works Every morning between the hours of 7 and 9:30 a.m., participants call a trained member of the Operation Reassurance team. The staff member will ask the senior how they are doing and if all is well. If the participant does not call during these hours, a member of the Operation Reassurance team will call the person at home. If there is no response or an emergency, the team member will call for help immediately. MAJOR SYMPTOMS DURING A HEART ATTACK INCLUDE: end result of a complex process called atherosclerosis ■ Shortness of breath (hardening of the arteries) where plaque builds up ■ Chest pain or discomfort inside your arteries. This blockage or narrowing of ■ Weakness arteries prevents oxygen-rich blood from reaching ■ Cold sweats the heart.
