What Are Cataracts?

A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s lens that can cause vision problems. Early
symptoms of cataracts include blurred vision, glare, and difficulty reading. The
decision to proceed with surgery is primarily based on the amount of difficulty
you have performing your routine daily activities.

Rickie and the Flash

Rickie Randazzo, is a middle aged rock star who plays dive bars in Los Angeles’
San Fernando Valley. Her life is turned upside down when her ex-husband calls
to tell her their distraught daughter is going through a very messy divorce. Ricki
flies to Chicago to try and comfort her daughter who rejects her. She also finds
out that one of her sons is getting married and that another is gay. Ricki attempts
to find some sort of redemption with her family.
Faith of Our Fathers

John Paul George is a postal worker who never knew his father, who died
in Vietnam in 1969.
When his mother passes away, keepsakes in his mother’s garage point to a man
named Eddie Adams, who was his father’s comrade in Vietnam. John embarks
on a quest to meet Eddie and through him learn more about his father as both a
personal connection and a veteran in war.
The Artist

With the rise of talking films came the falling of many silent film stars. While still
at the zenith
of his fame, George Valentin helps a struggling extra named Peppy Mille. Peppy
has talent and
eventually makes it big in the movies, especially as talking films become the rage
in the late 1920’s. But while Peppy’s star is on the rise, George’s is falling. The
stock market crash ruins his fortune, and his wife throws him out. In despair, he
burns up all his old films and almost loses his life only to be saved by Peppy and
his chauffeur. Reversing the kindness that he showed her she was starting out,
Peppy gets George a role in one of her films.

Ruth and Alex have been married for many years. They live on the fifth floor of
an apartment in Brooklyn. As they age, they are thinking it will be more
convenient to move to another place. Their beloved dog is aging as well. He
needs surgery that might leave him unable to walk again. Ruth’s niece is a real
estate agent who sees and opportunity for a big sale in her future. They’ll have to
rely on her to get them a deal on the apartment. As the reality sinks in, they relive
many memories from years ago.

Becoming an Ally: Responding to Name-Calling and Bullying

Presented by Robin Burstein
Becoming an Ally empowers people to become effective allies in incidents of bias
and bullying by increasing their understanding of the impact of name-calling,
bullying and other bias behaviors. Attendees will learn about the specific role of
being an ally, learn a process for safely intervening, and have an opportunity to
develop and practice the variety of responses to take action.
