CKHS Library Summarizing When you summarize your source information, you are writing a very brief retelling of the original source’s chapter into a paragraph of your own words or possibly an original source’s paragraph into a sentence of your own words. When you summarize, you have thoroughly read the original source, you fully understand and have synthesized the original source, and now you are simply retelling this large amount of information in only a few sentences using your own words. Above information is taken from: Winkler, Anthony C., and Jo Ray McCuen. Writing the Research Paper. Fort Worth: Harcourt College Publishers, 1999. Gibaldi, Joseph. MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. New York: The Modern Language Association of America, 2003.
