BONE ZONE STATIONS
These stations complement Bone Zone: Messages
for anyone with bones, an award-winning program
aimed at helping Grade 5-8 students build healthy
bones through calcium and exercise.
After showing the videos that accompany Bone
Zone, we strongly recommend that you set up the
following stations to give students an opportunity to
practice the key messages they learned:

Invent a jumping game!
1. Make a list of things you like to do that involve jumping.
2. Invent a new game! Write down a description of the game,
including any rules, number of people required and whether any
equipment is necessary.
Canada’s Physical Activity Guide suggests we should do activities to strengthen bones
and muscles 2-4 times/week.

Make a calcium-rich snack!
1. Measure 1 cup of dairy ingredients (milk, yogourt or buttermilk) and 1 cup of
frozen fruit into a blender.
2. Blend until smooth.
3. Taste and add sugar or honey as needed.
4. Write down your recipe!
5. If you drank 1 cup of your mix, how much calcium would you get? (Hint: use
the Calcium Calculator™)
