As during previous years, any volunteer traveling over 60
miles can stay in the dorm rooms for free; however, there are
a limited number of dorm rooms available.

Statewide Emergency Response Plan course addresses the
Florida Fire Chief's Association’s SERP for disaster response.
The course covers these three specific areas;
- The SERP as published by the Florida fire Chief's
Association.
- Mutual Aid ( how to utilize local mutual aid)
- Post Incident Analysis.

Volunteer Fire Department Grant Opportunity
Workshop – During this workshop, grant opportunities
available to Volunteer Fire Departments in Florida will be
explored. In addition, Grant Application prerequisites as well
as the application processes will be explained.

 FCDICE and FFIRS: A “How To” - What is FCDICE and
how can it benefit volunteer firefighters as well as volunteer
fire departments. The Florida Fire Incident Reporting
System (FFIRS) is a means for fire departments to report and
maintain computerized records of fires and other incidents in

S130 / S190 - This is a 40 hour course that is designed
to train firefighters in the basic fire behavior factors that will
aid them in the safe and effective control of wildland fires,
basic wildland firefighting training, and the human factors on
the fire line. This course is required for FF Certification.


The NFA Leadership Series offers the student the basic
leadership skills and tools needed to perform effectively in
the fire service environment.
Leadership 1 includes problem-solving techniques, ways to
identify and assess the needs of subordinates, methods for
running meetings effectively and decisionmaking skills.
Leadership 2 addresses ethics, use and abuse of power at the
CO level, creativity in the fire service environment, and
management of the multiple roles of the CO.
Leadership 3 covers when and how to delegate to subordinates, assess personal leadership styles through situational
leadership, discipline subordinates, and apply
coaching/motivating techniques.

Wednesday - Sunday Sessions
NOTE: Students must present written documentation of
completion of the following components of Firefighter I:
safety, fire behavior, water supply, PPE, SCBA, ladders,
communications, ventilation, and hose and appliances.
Documentation should be from a certified instructor attesting
that the student has met knowledge components and had
hands on training.
Full turnout gear is required. A limited number of SCBA
are available for use through the fire college.
Students MUST bring their Task Books.
Thursday Session (8 hours)

National Traffic Incident Management – This course

When Things Go Bad...
will describe the purpose of the Strategic Highway Research
Program, teach students how to recognize the dangers
encountered by emergency responders working in or near
traffic; and define traffic incident management.
Friday Session (8 hours)
As we train in a static environment for a dynamic field we
have to ask ourselves, are we training the right way? Many of
us focus on our physical health, but most training organizations neglect the presence of our fear induced tachycardia
(fight/flight). Discussed will be the advantages of hormonal
induced performance and strength gains.
Friday Session (6 hours)
 The Fire Chaplaincy – The role of the Chaplain is
“serving those who serve”. This workshop will explore the
responsibilities of the fire chaplain as they support fire rescue
personnel. This course is open to current chaplains, as well as
those considering involvement as a chaplain in the future.


Suicide Prevention in the Fire Service – This symposium includes a presentation on current trends in the fire
service regarding mental health and suicide and offers ideas
on implementing suicide prevention within your agencies.
