Lesson Plan Course Title: Principles of Manufacturing Session Title: Creating and Staffing a Manufacturing Company Performance Objective: The students will be able to explain different types of companies used to manufacture products, create a classroom simulation of a manufacturing company and staff it using techniques learned from the Creating and Staffing a Manufacturing Company PowerPoint presentation, to the satisfaction of the teacher. ASK: Have you ever thought about the different types of manufacturing companies that produce the products you use? ANSWER: Let several students respond. SAY: You are going to be asked to complete a basic job application and have an interview for a manufacturing position (job) in our classroom company. SHOW: The Employment Application handout, and distribute. ASK: Has anyone in class ever filled out a job application for a job? ANSWER: Let several students respond. ASK: Did you get to interview or talk about your getting the job? ANSWER: Let several students respond. SHOW: The Interview Survey handout, and distribute. SAY: At the end of this lesson, you will have the opportunity of interviewing each other and assessing which applicant is best suited for each job that needs to be filled. (Slides 31-32) Interpersonal Naturalist Existentialist Application Guided Practice (LSI Quadrant III): The teacher must explain the Creating and Staffing a Manufacturing Company PowerPoint presentation and provide personal examples as he/she goes through the lesson. The teacher should not just read it or let the students read it. Independent Practice (LSI Quadrant III): Students should be monitored while they are completing the Employment Applications. The students may want to add questions to the Interview Survey handout. The students will interview each other to fill all the jobs needed for the classroom manufacturing company. Summary Review (LSI Quadrants I and IV): Question: What type questions do you think should be asked during an interview? Answer: Allow the students to explain their thoughts.
