- Identify and explore career opportunities within the GPA Cluster
- Identify the role of Broadcast News Analysts
- Create your own Broadcast News Analyst poster
Materials/Equipment/Handouts Needed
- “What is a Broadcasting News Analyst?” computer-based
presentation
- Poster or large construction paper with markers, pencils, etc.
- Rubric for poster assignment
Introduction/Engage
- Instruct students to retrieve Vocabulary Lists—go over terms
necessary for Broadcasting News Analyst
- Introduce the lesson by going over a short computer-based
presentation over the importance of Broadcasting and the effect of
media on our world
- Ask students what they believe a good broadcaster would need in
terms of presentation, personality, and ability to relay information
effectively. What would a person need to effectively relate all of these
things to the public?
Activities
- Review vocabulary terms and definitions relevant to today’s lesson
- Distribute and review the Broadcast News Analyst Poster Rubric for
the poster assignment
- Have students create their own Broadcast News Analyst Poster using
terms and information learned during class. If time allows—some
students can present their broadcasters to the class for class
discussion.
Lesson Closure
- Share some student’s work and have class discussion.
- Review details of the Government and Public Administration
pathways using questioning techniques
- Instruct students to complete the vocabulary list for homework
- Discuss upcoming career module experiences and expectations

Extension
- Have the students write their own broadcasts that cover a local or
state story selected from a newspaper or online article
