Please consider this a personal invitation to attend the 2011 Annual Conference of the Iowa Communication
Association. The ICA Board has again decided to hold its Conference at the Ankeny Campus of DMACC. We feel
confident that you will find the Conference interesting and vital. Our interpersonal-related theme has universal
meaning for all of us in our professional lives as well as in our personal lives. This is an opportunity to stay
abreast of communication topics, meet colleagues from institutions around the state, and re-energize your
enthusiasm for teaching; and you can do that right here in central Iowa! In addition, this year we will have
members of the executive board of the International Listening Association attending and participating in the
conference.
Perhaps you have considered attending an ICA Conference in the past, but you just didn’t take the step.
Perhaps you have wanted to belong to a state-wide professional organization, but you had never heard of ICA.
Perhaps you attended an ICA Conference many years ago, but for various reasons, drifted away. We are hoping
that all of you will take this invitation seriously and join us this year.
I have attached this year’s Conference Program, Registration Form, and a letter which I sent to ICA
membership describing this year’s conference in detail. For more information, you can go to our website at
iowacomm.org. Remember, first-time attendees do not have to pay registration fees. When you register, just
tell our secretary that you are a first-time attendee, and she will waive the registration fee. The registration fee
for both days is only $30. If you cannot attend both days, just come for one. One-day registration is only $20.
We feel confident that you will enjoy the experience and will want to return next year!
