PRIVACY, SECURITY, AND
SURVEILLANCE: WIKILEAKS,
BIG DATA, AND THE NEW
ACCOUNTABILITY
Dr. Adam D. Moore
Department of Philosophy
Information School
University of Washington
Is accessing and sharing sensitive information
about individuals, corporations, and governments
always morally suspect? Do we owe each other the
level of information access promised by “big data”
or WikiLeaks? This talk looks at the challenge of
serving the needs of a democratic society while
protecting individuals from being information
targets.
Hosted by the SFU Institute for Values in
Policy and Science (ViPS) www.sfu.ca/~vips
Fostering conversations that are informed by the
sciences and guided by consideration of social and
environmental impact.
