Position Title: Volunteer Coordinator Organization: The Indian Summer Festival is a multi-arts festival for global souls. Every July, for 10 days, Indian Summer hosts dozens of free and ticketed events throughout Downtown Vancouver, featuring music, dance, literature, cuisine, visual arts, film and more! ISAS is a charitable, not-for-profit, arts organization with a vision for an inclusive, diverse, and culturally-rich society. To achieve this, we commission and present significant local, national, and international programming that reflects Vancouver’s position as a harbour for diverse arts, ideas, cultures and traditions. Now in its 5th year, Indian Summer has distinguished itself as a rare and necessary arts festival where worlds meet. The Indian Summer Festival runs July 9-18, 2015. Description: Are you a highly organized and enthusiastic social butterfly? Do you love animating a group of people to achieve a large, common goal? If so, ISF's Volunteer Coordinator position is for you! Responsibilities: • Recruit and retain past and future volunteers • Develop and implement an electronic database system that tracks volunteers, and records skills, performance, and availability • Work with festival team to develop a comprehensive volunteer needs assessment for festival activities • Develop a volunteer manual for internal use that provides information and guidelines for festival team • Develop a volunteer manual for volunteer use that provides festival and organizational information, scheduling procedures, and helpful hints • Schedules volunteers into shift work for company activities, based on organizational priorities • Lead volunteer training sessions manage volunteer services during the festival • Find volunteers for special organizational assignments • Organize volunteer benefits and a post-festival volunteer appreciation party • Prepare a Final Report detailing activities and recommendations with respect to the volunteer program Qualifications: • Strong leadership and project management skills • Friendly, respectful and professional detail-oriented • Able to work independently and as part of a team • Fluent in English • Passionate about arts and culture in Vancouver Dates: May-Aug (4 month part time) Organization contact: Indian Summer Festival Laura Byspalko, Managing Director Deadline to apply: Send applications to Chelsea Hunter, Internship coordinator, by no later than April 1, 2015, 4:00pm.
