CEGEM028/CEGEG028: Water and Wastewater Treatment
Outline :
This module gives students an overview of conventional treatment systems for water and
wastewater. It consists of lectures, field visit and laboratory classes. Usually lab classes are in
February and deadline to submit report is 2 weeks after class date.
Aims And Learning Outcomes :
The objective of the course is to provide a basic description and understanding of the main
technologies and processes for drinking water and wastewater treatment.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to:




Explain the aims of water and wastewater treatment.
Explain the importance of drinking water and discharge standards.
Identify and explain the main physical, chemical and biological processes for water and
wastewater treatment.
Explain and use the main design criteria for water and wastewater treatment processes.
Design basic treatment processes.
Combine the different processes appropriately.
Develop treatment plant layouts.
