Criterion Five: Engagement and Service Time line for committee work Requests for data on engagement made by November 21, 2008. Receive responses to data requests by the end of the fall semester. (December 19, 2008) Begin the review of the data by January 15, 2009. Identify gaps and request additional data by January 25, 2009. Writing assignments by task teams (covering various portions of the report) completed by February 27, 2009. Initial draft of report completed by April 1, 2008. Final draft of report submitted to HLC Committee by May 1, 2009. Division of labor Task Team # 1 ­ Volunteers: Brock Holman 1. Transfer students • Data on articulation agreements • Data on numbers of transfer students, by institution of origin. • Information on how the university goes about recruiting and orienting transfer students • Information on university efforts to maintain quality control over community college offerings. 2. Continuing education • Information on distance and web based learning programs. • Information on other Continuing Education programs • Data on numbers and locations of students served by Continuing Education – also on university departments which are significantly involved with Continuing Education. Task Team # 2 Volunteers: Katherine Brown, Jack Yates Pre­K through 12 outreach • Faculty service to preschool, elementary, middle, and high schools. This can include research, consulting, workshops, etc. There’s some overlap with Continuing Education here. • Student service to all of the above, including service as part of major requirements and service above and beyond requirements.
