Measurable Key Outcomes 2012
• Standardized format for the national profile to be
developed and approved by ILO and WHO
• Develop/update national profiles on workers’ health:
completed for Vietnam, China
• Develop/update national profiles on workers’ health:
ongoing for Brazil
• Use as a model the on-going Southeast European
National Profile Programme and use Finnish National
Profile as a guideline
• Develop and update national legislation,
implementation and evaluation of national policy
instruments for workers’ health: already in progress
for Serbia, Australia, Bulgaria, Chile, Ukraine, China,
Vietnam
• Global repository of national policy instruments on
workers' health
Gaps to be addressed
• Decreased capacity for providing technical
assistance to Member States in elaborating
national policy instruments
• There is no global list of workers’ health
indicators
• Insufficient evidence for action on workers'
health
• No systematic review of national policies,
action plans and profiles in workers' health
• Insufficient capacity of the ministries of
health to provide leadership for activities
related to workers’ health,
Barriers
• Insufficient capacity for policy
development among WHOCCs
• Changes in national political contexts
• Limited intersectoral collaboration and
governmental stewardship
Solutions
• To strengthen national capacities ( e.g.,
multistakeholder committee)
• To develop and promote stronger intersectoral
collaboration, social dialogue
• Ministry of health should have a department/unit of
occupational health
• Existing networks ( BSN, SEE ) opportunity to work
together in the multicenter projects
• WHO, ILO, regional economic integration bodies:
common support and joint actions and inter-country
collaboration and bench marking
Communication and Reportable
Outcomes
• WHO will work with a group of CCs in preparing an
outline for the Global Workers’ Health Outlook,
establishing an editorial group, developing
methodology for collection and review of
evidence, carrying out literature reviews and case
studies and organizing related workshops on
selected topics.( example from the WHO HQ ‘s
project)
• Guidance on the development, updating and use
of national profiles on workers' health
• Develop policy option, model framework
legislation and inventory of good national
practices ( jointly with ILO)
