Term duration 10 x 2-hour classes. Aims and Objectives The aim of this course is to enable students to communicate and interact at an intermediate level and to further develop their skills and knowledge of the target language and culture. Functions - Talk about the past, describe it and express duration of past actions. Asses and evaluate experiences. Talk about the future. Predict and express possibilities. Express conditions and their consequences. Ask and Give Cultural references and information. Compare and stand out one thing among several. Talk about the past: describe the situations and circumstances when something occurred. Express its cause. Talk about the past: relate actions form different moments in the past. Express personal experiences. Show interest about people or things. Express feelings: happiness, satisfaction, sadness, pity, surprise and oddness. Describe Problems. Ask for and give advice. Suggest. Respond to and advice or suggestion. Ask for: a favour, an object, permission, help, passing information. Pass information, requirements and questions. Linguistic Structures/ Phonetics - Revision of basic rules of the pronunciation of Spoken Spanish Grammar - Past Tenses: Preterit Tense, Imperfect, Pluperfect and continuous. Contrast within Past Tenses. Periphrasis: Llevo estudiando, Desde hace 10 años… Future Tense If Clause: present tense + future tense. Interrogatives Temporal sentences Causal sentences Verbs of change: possibilities for to become. Relatives: que or quien. Indefinite quantifiers: alguien, nadie, nada, alguno, ninguno… Verbs and expressions with prepositions: alegrarse de, tener ganas de … Imperative tense: affirmative, negative + personal pronouns. Suggest or advice + infinitive Conditional Tense, simple or in periphrasis: podrías ayudarme? Te importaría ayudarme a hacer…?
