Proposal Summary
Explain the purpose for this proposal:
The purpose of this proposal is to remove the prerequisite, HDFS 24011 (Interpersonal Relationships & Families) from HDFS
24012 (Child Development) in order to facilitate students getting through the HDFS Pre-major in a more timely manner.
Specifically, this change would allow all three required HDFS course in the Pre-Major to be completed in one semester.
Explain how this proposal affects program requirements and students in your unit:
The proposal would facilitate students more timely completion of the HDFS Pre-Major by providing students with the
opportunity to enroll in all three required HDFS Pre-Major courses in the same semester. This change may result in a small
increase in the number of students enrolled in Child Development (HDFS 24012) each semester, however, there are faculty
available should additional sections need to be offered in the future.
Explain how this proposal affects courses, program requirements and student in other units:
There are no effects on course, program requirements, and students in other units.
Explain how this proposal affects enrollment and staffing:
As stated above, this change may result in a small increase in the number of students enrolled in Child Development (HDFS
24012) each semester, however, there are faculty available should additional sections need to be offered in the future. Child
Development is also offered online, which provides students with an additional option for completing this course outside of
the traditional face-to-face delivery.
