Catalog Description (edited): This course is designed to acquaint students with an exercise program using calisthenics,
resistance training, running, and agility drills. The course will focus on increasing physical fitness, including cardiovascular
efficiency, muscular strength, and flexibility. Students will also learn the fundamental principles of physical fitness and their
effect on lifelong health and fitness.

Proposal Summary
Explain the purpose for this proposal:
Boot Camp has been taught as a Special Topics course for the required three semesters prior to transfer to course catalog
offering. Boot Camp has been well received by the students; we are currently offering 7 section of this course. This proposal
is a request to transfer Boot Camp from a Special Topics course to a course catalog offering. Learning Outcomes: The
student will learn how to improve all the Health Related Fitness components through a variety of fitness exercises and
activities. Students will also learn how to exercise safely and effectively and how fitness affects lifelong health and wellness.
Learning In Class Activities: Students will learn proper technique for performing exercises safely and effectively.
Cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, and muscular endurance will all be improved through calisthenics, resistance
training, running, and agility drills. An assortment of equipment will be used in class for further strength gains. Flexibility
will also be improved through stretching at the end of each class. Learning Out of Class Activities: Students will maintain a
weekly fitness log. They will also develop an exercise schedule and a plan for continued adherence. Students will be
encouraged to work out at the fitness center and participate in classes offered there.
