Description
TheONW-P-1001-DMVOccupancySensingWallSwitchisaPassiveInfrared(PIR)motionsensinglightingcontroland
conventionalwallswitchall-in-one,usedforenergysavingsandconvenience.
PIR Technology
Thesensor’ssegmentedlensdividesthefieldofviewintosensorzones,anddetectsthechangesintemperaturethat
arecreatedwhenaperson,orpartofapersonassmallasahand,passesintooroutofasensorzone.
TheONW-P-1001-DMVallowsthecontroloftwoseparateloadswithoneoccupancysensorswitch.
EnergySaverMode–EitherorbothloadsmaybeconfiguredtoturnONmanually.Thedefaultsettingforthesecond
loadisManualON.Thisensuresthewallswitchonlyactivatesoneload.Ifbothloadsareonwhenthesensortimes-out,
onlytheprimaryloadwillbeactivated.IfthelightswereshutOFFmanually,theunitwillactivatetheprimaryloadonly.
InAutomaticONMode,thelightsturnONautomaticallywhenapersonenterstheroom.InManualONMode,thelights
areturnedONbypressingtheuniversallyrecognizedlighticonpushbutton.Ineithermode,thelightsstayONaslongas
thesensordetectsmotionintheroom.Whentheroomisvacated,thelightsturnOFFautomaticallyafterapresettime
delayinterval.
Thesensorincludesself-adaptivetechnologythatcontinuallyadjuststoconditionsbyadjustingsensitivityandtime
delayinreal-time.Byadjustingsensitivityandtimedelayautomatically,thesensorismaximizingthepotentialenergy
savingsthatareavailableintheparticularapplication.
TheEcoMeterprovidesavisualindicatorofenergyusage,increasingenduserawarenessandremindingindividualsto
takecontroloftheirlightingtomaximizeenergysavings.
TheDaylightingfeaturepreventslightsfromturningON,whentheroomisadequatelyilluminatedbynaturallight.
Walk-ThroughfeaturemaximizesenergysavingsbynotleavingthelightsONafteramomentaryoccupancy.Thesensor
willswitchthelightsONwhenitdetectsapersonenteringthearea.Ifthesensordoesnotcontinuetodetectmotion20
secondsfollowingtheinitialactivation,itwillautomaticallygotoashorter2minutetimedelay.
BathroomMode–Whenselected,bathroommodekeepsthesecondrelayONforanadditional8minutes,afterthe
firstrelayhasbeenturnedOFF.Combinethiswithchangingthepushbuttontothelight/fangraphicandyounowhavethe
universallyrecognizedandeasytousebathroomsolution.
RelaySwapOption–Acommonprobleminelectricwiringiswiringthewrongswitchtothewrongload.Thiscanmake
controlofloadsconfusingtoanenduser.TheRelaySwapoptionsolvestheproblembyallowingtheswitchbuttonsonthe
faceoftheunittobeswapped,aftertheunitiswiredandinstalled.

Wiring
CAUTION: Before installing or performing any service on a Greengate system, the power MUST be turned OFF at
the branch circuit breaker. According to NEC 240-83(d), if the branch circuit breaker is used as the main switch
for a fluorescent lighting circuit, the circuit breaker should be marked “SWD.” All installations should be in
compliance with the National Electric Code and all state and local codes.
NOTE REGARDING COMPACT FLUORESCENT LAMPS: The life of some compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) is shortened
by frequent automatic or manual switching. Check with CFL and ballast manufacturer to determine the effects of cycling.

AdjustmentsshouldbemadewiththeHVACsystemONsothattheinstallerwillbeabletodetecttheeffectofairflowon
theoperationoftheONW-P-1001-DMV.Useonlyinsulatedtoolstomakeadjustments.
Immediatelyafterapplyingpowertothelightingcircuit,waitapproximatelytwominutesfortheswitchtopower-up
andstabilize.
Self-Adjust
Sensorisshippedinself-adjustmode.ThisappliestotimedelayandPIRsensitivity.InpreparationfortheInstallerTest,
thetimedelayissetto15seconds,afterthesensorisinstalled,poweredONandhasstabilized,theunitwilltime-out15
secondsafterthelastmotiondetected.CoverageandsensitivitycanbeconfirmedbywatchingtheRed(PIR)indicatorLED
onthefrontofthesensor,whilemovingaroundtheroom.
Daylight Adjustments
TheDaylightingfeaturepreventsthelightsfromturningONwhen
theroomisadequatelyilluminatedbynaturallight.Ifthereisenough
lightintheroomregardlessofoccupancy,thesensorwillholdthe
lightsOFF.Ifthereisnotenoughlightintheroom,thesensorwill
allowthelightstoturnONwhenoccupied.TheDaylightingfeature

modelsonly).ThesensorwillnotallowtheDaylightingfeaturetoturn
theloadOFFuntilthespaceisvacantifthelightlevelrisesabovethe

ifsomeoneattemptstoturntheloadONandthereissufficientdaylightavailabletheDaylightingfeaturewillholdthelightsOFF.

4. Setthelightleveltominimum(fullyCCW).
5.Letthesensortime-outsolightsareOFF.EnterthespaceandlightsshouldremainOFF.
6.MakesurenottoblockthesensorfromthedaylightsourceandadjustthelightlevelpotentiometerCWinsmall
increments.(Pause5secondsbetweeneachadjustment)
7. LightswillnotturnONuponoccupancyactivation,whentheambientlightlevelexceedsthedaylightthresholdsetting.
Time Delay Adjustments
Peoplewhoremainverystillforlongperiodsoftimemayneed
alongertimedelaythanthedefaultsettingof10minutes.Aslong
astheself-adjustingfeatureisenabled,theswitchwillrespond
toeachpairoffalse-OFFswithnonormalOFFinbetween,by
alternatelymakingslightadjustmentstoeithertimedelay(by2minute
increments)orsensitivity,sothereshouldbenoneedformanual
adjustment.Ifmanualadjustmentisdesired,refertoTimeDelay
1 and 2
settingsinDIPSwitchlegend.
