Freshman applicants should apply during the fall of the senior year of high
school. Interested students are encouraged to apply online at www.
kent.edu/apply. Applying online saves time and paper, and applicants
will be able to view their application status online. A complete freshman
application includes:

ACT/SAT CODES
When registering to take the ACT or SAT, please select Kent State
University as a score recipient. The ACT code for Kent State is 3284; the
SAT code number is 1367. The writing portion of the ACT is required.
HOME-SCHOOLED STUDENTS/ALTERNATE EDUCATION
Kent State welcomes applications from home-schooled students.
Students may submit a portfolio reflecting all secondary coursework
completed, written verification from the appropriate school district
excusing the student from compulsory attendance and an ACT or SAT
score OR students may submit an equivalent diploma through a
successful General Education Development (GED) test and an ACT or SAT
score. Home-schooled students should complete a program of study
that covers the full college-preparatory program recommended by
the Ohio State Board of Education. Out-of-state students should submit
appropriate supporting documents as required by their home state.

Students from any major may seek admission to the Honors College.
Selective criteria include high school grade point average, ACT or
SAT scores, college preparatory curriculum and evidence of creative
ability. To be considered for membership in the Honors College and for
merit scholarships, you must submit a complete Kent State admissions
application by Jan. 15, 2016. For more information on the Honors College

SCHOLARSHIPS
Kent State offers a comprehensive portfolio of scholarships for incoming
students ranging from $1,000 to full tuition. For priority consideration for
freshman scholarships at the Kent Campus, you must submit a complete
application for admission by Jan. 15, 2016. Freshmen applying after this
date may be considered for scholarships if funds are available. Incoming
freshman academic scholarships are based upon academic achievement
and, in some cases, financial need. Scholarships are often renewable if
students meet specified academic expectations. For more information
