Students will be able evaluate the effect of government policies on markets and identify the appropriate role for government in response to market failures. IV. What method(s) will be used to assess student learning? One multiple choice quiz will be administered in the last two weeks of the semester. One third of the questions on the quiz will assess this outcome. Every semester, the questions will be randomly selected from a test bank created and maintained by the Department. The students will submit their answers using a common Blackboard Learn page (Principles of Economics – Common Space) that every student at every campus and in every section of the course has access to. We will: 1. report the distribution of answers to each question, 2. emphasize the percentage of students answering each question correctly, 3. provide a summary comparison to results obtained in previous years of the five-year cycle, 4. provide an analysis of the results, including corrective measures if it appears that the objective is not met. Students will be able to determine the profit-maximizing price and quantity for firms in various market structures. IV. What method(s) will be used to assess student learning? One multiple choice quiz will be administered in the last two weeks of the semester. Two thirds of the questions on the quiz will assess these two outcomes (one third of the questions for each outcome). Every semester, the questions will be randomly selected from a test bank created and maintained by the Department.
