Definitions:

Timberland—Land with at least 10 percent cover (or equivalent stocking) by live trees of any size, including land that formerly had such tree cover and that will be naturally or artificially regenerated, not withdrawn by law(s) prohibiting the management for production of wood products, and capable of growing at least 20 cubic feet per acre per year.

Number of all live trees (or trees)—Number of live trees at least 1 inch diameter at breast height or diameter at root collar.

Volume of all live (or volume)—Net volume of wood in the central stem of live trees 5.0 inches diameter or larger from a 1foot height stump to a minimum 4-inch top diameter outside bark, or to where the central stem breaks into limbs all of which
are less than 4.0 inches diameter outside bark. Specifications differ for woodland species, of which there are few in East Texas.

All live aboveground biomass (or biomass)—Aboveground dry weight of live trees 1.0 inches diameter or larger, including all
tops and limbs, and stump, but excluding foliage.

Per acre estimates in the appendix are per acre of timberland.
Notes:
Estimates are given by county in the figures and tables. Estimates are based on a sample and are therefore subject to sampling error.
Sampling errors may be high for some counties. In using the estimates, it is better to pool several counties together so that sampling
error is reduced.
