The Institute of Health School of Health and Social Studies, University of Warwick Introduction The Institute, founded in 2001, is based within the School of Health and Social Studies in the Faculty of Social Studies. It is independent but connected to the Warwick Medical School. It aims to: • To profile externally health-related social science research at the University of Warwick • To link with staff in other Faculties of the University (WMS and beyond) to develop multidisciplinary health-related research with a strong social science component • To support and foster individual and institutional capacity in health related social science research in SHSS and the Faculty of Social Sciences • To develop user and carer involvement in teaching and learning and research Strategy Our strategy is to: Develop and support high quality innovative interdisciplinary research with internal and external collaborators, both within the UK and internationally Give support to the development and management of healthrelated social science research projects within SHSS and give opportunities for research leadership to academic staff and research fellows Maintain and expand UNTRAP Research Research on health, medicine and social care research is promoted and supported in the Institute of Health through a number of Research Groups. UNTRAP is an organisation that aims to promote the engagement and involvement of users and carers from the local community in research and teaching in health and social care at the Universities of Warwick and Coventry. • The activities of these groups nurture dialogue and promote multidisciplinary research across the University and with external partners.
