EE499 SENIOR DESIGN FINAL REPORT (DUE WEDNESDAY, 4th of MAY) Updated 4-25-05 LGH The “Technical Report” is a common way to document projects. You are to write a “final report” about your senior design project and it should be an equal collaboration between all your group members. Turn in the report by email in pdf format. Optional: I would also like you to form a website for your project so you can refer to it during job interviews. A concise outline for the “final report” is presented below for guidance. Title Page • Title of project • Names of students • Contact Info • Advisor Name and Association • Date Abstract • Be descriptive, not technical • What is the problem your solving • How are you solving it (remember to be descriptive) • Why is your solution so amazing 1. Introduction • Historical perspective of how it has been done up to your idea • Present your idea and why it is innovative • Describe the contents of your proposal, 1 sentence per section. 2. Background (optional) 3. Technical Descriptions (make up your own title) • Provide system level flow chart and description on how it works • Provide performance criterion and expected or target performance (you can reuse materials from the performance analysis report) • Provide complete schematics • Provide mathematical definitions of filters and electronic devices • Provide logic diagrams. 4. Impact Statement • How does it fit in with existing technologies? • • • How does fit in to the Market Manufacturing issues Social and Environmental Impact 5. Distribution of Effort • What was each group member responsible for in terms of project • What was each group member’s background that makes them well suited for their effort. 6. Time Line (we need this for EE499 but normally this would not be documented) • Organize by week • Use Table or Gantt chart • Indicate Milestones and important objectives • Contrast this with your proposed timeline, explain any inconsistencies or delay 7. Deliverables (This is only necessary for EE499 documentation) • Organize by date • Associate with milestones and the team member responsible 8. Budget or Parts list • Refer to schematics and provide a complete parts list. • Provide a budget for the project and indicate whether or not it is for a single unit or multiple units 9. Conclusion and Summary • Describe the important aspects of your project. 10. Acknowledgements • Note any financial support for project. Note your advisors help. 11. References • Web sites • Data books • Text books • Journal and Conference Papers Biographical Sketches Written in 3rd person. List educational and professional achievements and background. These are usually listed in reverse chronological order and the bio is ended with a 1 or 2 sentence description of present R&D interests. (You have done this as part of your “whitepaper” and final proposal)
