You will be able to converse, conduct interviews, and give reports. Student Learning Outcomes: 1. Identify and explain key aural information (main idea, detail, inference and conclusion). 2. Apply note-taking skills to level-appropriate material. 3. Recognize and employ new topical vocabulary. 4. Practice pronunciation on targeted consonants. 5. Familiarize themselves with information retrieval via internet and library book system Requirements: To enter this class, you have to pass ESL 521 with a C grade or better or take the placement test and be placed here. This is a graded class, A-F. In order to pass, you must do the following: - attend class regularly and participate; - attend conversation group once a week in the Tutoring Center; - attend the Computer Lab one hour per week; - receive an average of 73% and above on all assignments; - do both oral presentations and take all tests, including the final exam Students must be present on all test and presentation days. Make-ups will only be given in an emergency. If you are absent, please email or call the teacher. Also, call a classmate and ask about the classwork and homework. Students may be dropped from the class after three absences and receive no credit. Three tardies equal one absence. You must arrive on time to class! Please put cell phones and pagers on “vibrate” in class; you may not answer any calls during class time.
