Cooper Wiring Devices Introduces New
ACCELL Digital Smart Dimmer
Integral part of CORETM Lighting Control line combines designer styling with energy saving benefits.
PEACHTREE CITY, GA, April 30, 2010 – Cooper Wiring Devices, a leading electrical wiring device
manufacturer for industrial, commercial and residential applications, introduces the ACCELL digital
“smart” dimmer system as part of its new CORETM Lighting Control line.
The contemporary ACCELL dimming system provides true multi-location control for managing lighting
from one or multiple locations. It provides compatibility with incandescent, halogen and magnetic lowvoltage up to 1000W/VA and up to 8A for Advance Mark 10® fluorescent dimmable ballasts.
ACCELL dimmers feature an on/off tap switch that provides numerous options. One tap turns on lights
to a preset light level or turns them off. A two second press and hold takes the light to full bright when off
or when the lights are on initiates a slow fade off over 10 seconds for a safe egress. To the right of the
tap switch is a dimming rocker to brighten or dim the lights. Within the top left side of the tap switch, a
row of LED lights indicate the light level, on/off status of device and serve as a soft nightlight when lights
are off.
ACCELL dimmers make full-range dimming possible from up to six locations. They feature standard 3way wiring and do not require a neutral for easy installation and retrofit. For multi-location dimming, one
“master" dimmer is installed which can then be connected to up to five ACCELL “remote” location
dimmers. An additional advantage provided by the “remote” dimmers is they also include LEDs to allow
for indication of light level, on/off status and provide nightlight. ACCELL dimmers provide an air-gap
switch; have power failure memory, electrostatic discharge protection, RFI (radio frequency interference)
suppression and incorporate Square law dimming.

“Ease of use, energy efficiency and aesthetic appeal are all key attributes when selecting a dimming
system,” said Dave Pawl, President, Cooper Wiring Devices. “ACCELL not only provides these
benefits, but also creates additional cost savings for both distributors and contractors with a tri-color unit
which includes the device in white and two color change kits in a single SKU.”
Installation speed enhancements include a virtually indestructible, ultrasonically welded top and back,
extra long and wide mounting straps, and ground screws that are easily accessible. The ACCELL
dimmer is available in a variety of shades to complement any décor, including almond, brown, black,
gray, ivory, light almond and white. Convenient color change kits are available for simple in-field
changes or for easier inventory management of color choices at distribution.
In addition to ACCELL, the CORE line includes the ASPIRE RFTM wireless control system, ASPIRE™
Collection, DEVINE and SKYE slide dimmers, REACT and Architectural rotary dimmers, TRACE toggle
dimmers, fan controls, power extenders, SAVANT sensors, and Standard Series sensors. Wallplates in
decorator or traditional styles are also available
CORE lighting controls line of wallbox dimmers, fan controls, sensors and wireless devices reduce
