Cooper Industries to Showcase Breadth of Solar Solutions
at Solar Power International 2010
New products include Cooper Bussmann’s Surge Protective Device and Cooper B-Line’s
ARISTATM solar commercial rooftop mounting system.
HOUSTON, October 11, 2010 – Cooper Industries plc (NYSE: CBE), a global provider of electrical
products and solutions, today announced it will exhibit its solar mounting and wiring, power
management, and circuit management and protection solutions at Solar Power International 2010,
October 12-14, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Building on its history of expertise and innovation, Cooper Industries develops solutions that fulfill
complete balance of system needs, helping to decrease overall installation and ongoing maintenance
costs of solar systems. Multiple Cooper divisions, including Cooper B-Line, Cooper Bussmann, Cooper
Crouse-Hinds and Cooper Power Systems, will showcase Cooper’s range of solar products at Solar
Power International, Booth #1120.
As Cooper’s latest solar offering, Cooper Bussmann will introduce its new Surge Protective Device
(SPD) at the event. The first UL1449 3rd edition recognized Surge Protective Device for solar
applications, Cooper Bussmann’s new SPD is simple to identify, install and maintain. Built-in, fast-acting
short-circuit interruption technology for 600Vdc, 1000Vdc and 1200Vdc systems safely shunts damaging
surges and overvoltages to ground. This high performance capability also eliminates the need for
additional fuses or overcurrent protection, wiring and panel space, providing PV users complete
protection at substantial cost savings.
Cooper B-Line will additionally showcase its new ARISTATM commercial rooftop mounting system. This
cost-effective and easy to install solar PV mounting system features standard electrical components and
no loose hardware. The ARISTA system’s pre-assembled frames effectively angle solar PV panels in
the optimal position for maximum performance. With a high degree of flexibility, the ARISTA system

can be used for landscape or portrait mounting of PV panels for both ballasted and positively tied
solutions. In addition to ARISTA, Cooper B-Line offers a comprehensive set of custom engineered
solutions for mounting solar PV panels in ground, commercial roof and open-structure applications.
"Cooper Industries’ commitment to innovation and expertise remains particularly evident in the growing
solar energy sector,” explained Cooper Industries CEO Kirk Hachigian. “New products like our surge
protection devices and solar commercial rooftop mounting system come not only as a result of extensive
research and development, but of our continued anticipation of customers’ evolving needs.”
In addition to Cooper Industries’ latest products, a variety of solutions comprise Cooper’s balance of
system offerings, including combiner boxes. Available from both Cooper Bussmann and Cooper
Crouse-Hinds, combiner boxes provide the housing to combine and connect the conductors from
several arrays or solar panels into one main buss or feed.
For larger commercial and utility-scale projects, Cooper Power Systems reliably and efficiently delivers
power to the utility grid. Cooper Power Systems offers high efficiency solar GSU transformers, cooled
with Envirotemp FR3 soy oil-based dielectric fluid; specially designed with inverter technology and
energy harvest in mind. In addition to medium-voltage transformers, a full line of molded rubber parts
and substation products such as capacitors, arresters, relays, switchgear, and automation
communication systems ensure that the quality of the electricity generated meets the grid
interconnection requirements.
For remote applications, solar kits from Cooper Crouse-Hinds eliminate the need for expensive utility
power investments. Solar kits are installed in weatherproof enclosures to withstand harsh weather
conditions and high wind loads.
Solar Power International, previously called Solar Power Conference and Expo, was created in 2004
when the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA)
joined together to form a North American business-to-business solar conference and expo.
Representatives from Cooper Industries and its divisions will be on hand throughout Solar Power
International 2010. Attendees and interested media are encouraged to visit Cooper at Booth #1120 or
